Sunday
School & Youth Group
Our Sunday School is held on Sunday mornings during the church service. We meet in the church first at 10.30am and then go through to the hall after the children's talk.
Our leaders are Margaret & Trish who have been enjoying using the new FC teaching materials this year. We are encouraged by the number of children who attend regularly and by their interest in spiritual matters. What a privilege it is to be involved in this work. May the Lord bless teachers and pupils alike.
A group of 12-15 children aged 6-10 years meet in the hall every Friday during the school term. They enjoy good bible teaching, arts and crafts, games and lots more. Again we are greatly encouraged by the children’s interest in spiritual issues. Our desire is that they will come to know the Lord for themselves. Ann, Trish & Margaret enjoy this time with the children along with other helpers from time to time.
We hope to run a group for older children after the Summer holidays. Details will be given later.
This is now organised by Moira with a little help from some of her friends. Around 6-8 teenagers meet at 7.45pm every Sunday evening. It is encouraging to see the interest of the group who enjoy listening to different speakers, discussion and a good feed afterwards!
In January 2008 a good number of parents and children met for our annual party. A great time was had by all.
The Sunday School organised a fun day in June to raise money for the 2007 project, ‘Dwelling places in Kampala, Uganda’. Once again this event proved to be a success with everyone enjoying a family day out. We raised about £400 which along with the sum raised at Hector’s birthday amounted to £1000. This was sent to Edinburgh en route to Uganda. Thanks go to everyone who helped in any way.
A group of about 30 travelled to Landmark Forest Theme Park stopping on the way for pies, sausage rolls, fizzy drinks and crisps. The Lord blessed us with lots of fun, good food, and warm fellowship. Thanks be to Him for His goodness.
We were very sad to say cheerio to Michael as he left home in the Autumn to go to university in Glasgow. Michael has been a valuable helper in the Sunday School over the last year and will be greatly missed. We wish him God’s blessing during his time in university.
We also wish Ayasha God’s blessing during her time at art college in Glasgow. We will miss her too.
Please continue to pray for Michael, Ayasha and all the other young ones!
